Details: The morning mist rises from the lake as the soft aroma of fresh-brewed coffee fills the room. A loon calls out; time to head down to the dock. Technically, we should have named this coffee Loon Calls because the common loon found in Muskoka actually has four distinct calls - the tremolo, wail, yodel, and hoot. The tremolo, which sounds like a crazy laugh, is the most familiar and distinctive call, and is used to signal alarm or worry. You are more likely to hear the wail in the morning, as you enjoy your coffee and danish, when loons signal that they want to move closer together or that it is safe for the chicks to join them for food. The pods are made using world-leading PurPod100 technology developed by the Canadian licensor in collaboration with the University of Guelph’s Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre. This Canadian innovation is the first, and to date only, coffee pod to earn certification from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI**). This confirms that the pods can break down in as little as 5 weeks in well-managed composting processes -- like most food waste. So, after enjoying a single cup of freshly brewed Muskoka Roastery coffee, the ring, lid, filter and brewed coffee grounds will fully compost into nutrients for the soil.
