The MAGNANI paper mill was built in the 15th century on the banks of the Pescia River, famous for its clear water - an essential requirement for the production of paper. Already in the 18th century, MAGNANI exported its papers all over the world. Most European royalty houses and numerous state mints were among the customers. Napoleon Bonaparte commissioned MAGNANI to produce a special watermark paper for the announcement of his wedding to Maria Luisa D'Austria. The original mould is still in the factory. MAGNANI was also a supplier to the Italian royal family for special papers on which important documents were drawn up and agreements signed. Over the years, eminent artists such as Picasso, De Chirico, Guttuso, Annigoni, Maccari, Bueno, Guarnieri, Morandi, writers such as D'Annunzio, Giusti and many others had their own paper made as a token of appreciation.
