Beer, photos by Carien Schippers. This is one of our most popular Christmas cards; it features a lovely verse by Rita S. Beer. I don't know Rita - but I'd bet that she's a horse/donkey person based on one line in this poem: "I gladly carried Mary through the chaos of the crowd." Only someone who's worked with equines would know to note how significant it is that the donkey carried Mary safely through what must have been a very scary situation. Verse reads: Just a little donkey, but on my back I bore The one and only Savior the world was waiting for. Just a little donkey, but I was strong and proud- I gladly carried Mary through the chaos of the crowd. I brought her to a stable where she made a tiny bed... A place for Baby Jesus to lay His little head. I pray the world remembers that special Christmas night when just a little donkey carried Heaven's Precious Light.
